Brain Injury Services

Program Overview

community based day program At Goodwill's NeuroRehabilitation Services, we offer the most comprehensive, therapeutic programs in the state. Our Portland and Lewiston programs treat people with brain injuries and neurological disabilities.

Brain injury is the leading cause of disability and death for young people in the United States. Each year brain injury changes the lives of 5,000 Mainers and their families.

The healing process following a brain injury is quite different from that of other physical injuries. Survivors leave the hospital facing tough challenges: loss of recent memory, problems with organizational skills, personality changes, difficulties with social interaction, an inability to plan and problem solve, problems following through with activities, and physical changes that may affect walking, balance and speech. Goodwill's NeuroRehabilitation Services can help people meet these challenges with success. At Goodwill's NeuroRehabilitation Services we help people with brain injuries resulting from:

Trauma

  • Accidents
  • Falls
  • Violence

Exposure to Toxins

  • Chemotherapy ("chemo-brain")
